Converting the MR-S to race duty.

Postby VAGperformance on Fri Jul 16, 2010 7:45 pm

Just thought i'd throw up some updates for my car.

Now running 15x8 et 20 wheels all around with 225/45/15 tires.

Had to flare and pull the fenders a bit.

Then it was time for weight savings

out with the door panels.

Then it was time for the speakers, stereo, and roof.

Next time I go in for the allignment i'll get the car weighted and add more negative camber.

This is the Che SS.
I Didn't like having to reach all the way down to shift while racing.
I ordered a 9" Double bend Shift Extension for an STI from WC Lathe Werks, it has an internal set screw you turn with an allen wrench to align the overall position.

I really like the feel, it's actually faster to go from the steering wheel to the shift knob at its new location than it is to reach all the way down to the short shifter despite the slightly shorter throws... All in all I think it ends up feeling kind of like the stock shifter as far as length of the throw goes, but it moves the knob closer and is then faster... Next time i'm able to attend a meet with the spyder you can see it for yourself, but i'll probably bring the turbo since it's comfy.

I sprayed some bed liner, on the floor to give some grip. The shelf section in the back is easily removed at the events, but i need it to make carrying tools and my helmet.

Yeah buddy.
Car weights in at 2128 (actually 2123 iirc, took the tools out after taking the picture)
And has a cross weight of 49.9%, the .1% isn't worth paying for another corner balance, lol.

That's with 3/4 of a tank of gas, and keep in mind I have the Harddog Rollbar (65-70lbs) and the 2zz (adds 30iirc)

I'm pretty happy.

2128 was without driver. I weigh 200lbs, i'm working to bring that down this week for the sake of racing... it's the only thing that can get me to watch what I eat, the only thing I like more than delicious food is going fast.
