History of me and my Supra

Well, my transmission is finally giving out. Started to whine on start up, in December. Got more noticible as time went on. Fast foward to June, decided to flush out the tranny, Black goo came out first couple seconds, then small shavings, then finally dark fluid, then cherry red. Well guess what all I acomplished was making it worse haha, but at least its got clean fluid. So fast foward to today. Whines like a druggy without their meds. So operation make it last is in effect. So since this one is dying why not improve the next one?

So I've aquired another A340E tranny, I've got a new tranny filter, im shimming the accumulators in the tranny for more faster and aggresives shifts between 1-2 and 2-3 gears. Also got a 11x11x1.5" cooler coming in. To top it off decided to go with Toyota T-IV synthetic tranny fluid. I will post pics when I get home before I goto work. Im waiting on the shims right now. Cooler should be in by 2nd or 3rd of August. Stay tuned exciting stuff!

Also found out that the tranny is a 1JZ auto so i need to do a few things to get it to fit first. Nothing major.

Well its all finished and im sure some of you were wondering how my old transmission looked well.....see for yourself...

Old transmission pan off (those are magnets on the pan as you can see vs the other picture above of the clean pan. The magnets were COVERED in shavings)

Closer look

Even closer

yeah i think i burned up the clutches BAD

Car on the lift

Image

Flexplate, we changed the rear main seal while we were here

Before the transmission went back in 1jz one of course. To make it work we had to swap bell housings, kick down cable, ABS speed sensor, extension housing, speed sensor rotor, and solenoid plugs. Went in fine though the only thing thats off is the dipstick tube, but nothing a ziptie didnt fix.

Image

Transmission shifts FAST, it kicks down hard enough to get my turbo spooled faster. I like it.

This morning i woke up and got to mounting my cooler.

There it is

Noticeable difference in temp. Well Phase one is complete next is re-shimming the valves and changing the valve cover gaskets.

Other Misc pics i took.
